The 2012 Miriam Project 5k Walk/Run & 10k Run Logo Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

I. INTRODUCTION
Described below are the official rules for the 2012 logo contest held by The Miriam Project Adoption Agency in Anderson, IN. The purpose of this contest is to both advertise and provide a logo for the 2012 5k Walk/Run and 10k Run fundraiser for The Miriam Project. In the event of any inconsistencies between promotional materials for this contest relating to, but not limited to, contest regulations, entries, or the fair use of designs, the official rules listed below will be deemed authoritative in all areas related to this contest.

II. CONTEST OVERVIEW
The Miriam Project is holding a contest to help promote the 2012 5k Walk/Run and 10k Run fundraiser. This contest will provide a logo for use in the marketing and promotion of the fundraiser. The logo will be used by The Miriam Project for, but not limited to, online media such as the website and social networks, t-shirts, mugs, and other print media. Entries will be submitted via email and will be evaluated by judges established by The Miriam Project.

III. ELIGIBILITY
1. This contest is only open to individuals; entries must be made for, and on behalf of, only one person. This contest is not open to groups, educational institutions, organizations, companies, etc.
2. Miriam Project staff, board members, and the judges of this contest, as well as their immediate family members, are ineligible for entry into this contest.
3. This contest is open to U.S. Residents only, void where prohibited.

IV. HOW TO ENTER
Read these official rules carefully. To submit an entry, do the following:
1. Email your logo design to miriamprojectstudent@miriamproject.org. The design must be in EPS or JPEG format, and must fulfill the logo guidelines as outlined below.
2. The email submission must include the name, email, postal address, and phone number of the entrant.
3. No more than three entries may be made by one entrant.
4. All entries must conform to the guidelines outlined below. Entries that do not follow these guidelines will be disqualified from the contest. In the event of a disqualification, The Miriam Project reserves the right to notify the entrant of his/her disqualification.
5. All entries must be submitted between January 23, 2012 and March 2, 2012.
6. The Miriam Project will attempt to respond with an acknowledgement of received entries, but is not responsible for lost or otherwise not received entries.
7. There is no fee to enter this contest.

V. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION
1. The logo must be submitted in either EPS or JPEG format. JPEG submissions should be a large image at a minimum of 300dpi.
2. The design will likely be used on both large and small media and should therefore be legible at different sizes.
3. The promotion of any person, business, or organization other than The Miriam Project is not allowed in the design.
4. The use of copyrighted, third party materials such as, but not limited to, stock images, clipart, and vector graphics may not be included in any entry. Entries including any copyrighted, third party materials will be immediately disqualified from the contest. In the event that a winning entry is discovered to include copyrighted materials, the winner will be required to return any awarded prizes with monetary value.
5. The entry may contain the Miriam Project logo, but it is not required. A high resolution copy of the logo is available at http://miriamproject.org/images/logo.tif.
6. The entry must include the words “(The) Miriam Project Adoption Agency,” “2012,” and “(10th Annual) 5k Walk/Run & 10k Run,” at least once in the design. The words listed in parentheses are optional. Other text, such as the month and day (September 8) of the event, may be included at the discretion of the designer.
7. The logo must be usable in both color and black and white. A black and white copy of the logo may be submitted, but is not required for entry into the contest.
8. Any color may be used, but only one color is allowed in the logo design because of printing costs. Please note that black, in this case, will be considered a color.
9. The logo will be printed on a white background, and should be created with this in mind.

VI. PRIZES
One winner from among the entrants will be awarded with the following:
1. $150 cash prize.
2. Two t-shirts with the winning design
3. Two mugs with the winning design
4. Two complimentary entries into this year’s 5k Walk/Run and 10k Run fundraiser, at the decision of the winner.

VII. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
1. A winning design will be selected by a group of judges established by The Miriam Project. The decision of the judges is final.
2. The Miriam Project reserves the right to not select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entry was submitted.
3. The Miriam Project reserves the right to disqualify any entry or entrant at their sole discretion. In the event of a disqualification, The Miriam Project reserves the right to contact or not contact the entrant at their discretion.
4. By accepting the prize, the winner gives The Miriam Project the right to use his/her name for publicity purposes (ie, to announce the contest winner publicly).
5. The winner will be required to sign a waiver, giving the full rights of the logo to The Miriam Project.
6. The contest winner will be notified via email or phone on or around March 16, 2012. A minimum of three attempts to contact the winner will be made. In the event that the winner is unable to be contacted within seven days of selection, The Miriam Project reserves the right to select a replacement entry.

VIII. INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS
1. By submitting a design for this contest, the entrant gives permission to The Miriam Project to display his/her submitted design on The Miriam Project website, social networks, and other promotional materials for this contest.
2. The winning entry will become the exclusive property of The Miriam Project and may no longer be used by the designer except in his/her personal design portfolio.

IX. CONCLUSION
The entrant, by submitting an entry for this contest, agrees to abide by all of the official rules and guidelines outlined above. The Miriam Project reserves the right to add, remove, or modify these official rules as necessary without the notification of contest entrants.
